This is my favorite radio station. They play a wonderful selection of classical music. It is thoughtfully programmed, and always good for some inspiration. You can listen on the internet or at 98.7 on the radio.
This is a great violin shop in the neighborhood. They rent good instruments by the quarter for a reasonable price. They are very knowledgable and will help you find your violin size and accessories.
This is a sheet music store that has every piece of music you could possibly need. It is a very unique shop located in the Fine Arts Building downtown. Give yourself plenty of time to browse.
This website has everything violin related. It's fun to browse.
William Harris Lee has extremely good quality violin rentals. Especially for small sizes. They're a little more expensive than most, but it's worth the extra money.
The Grant Park Music Festival is full of great symphony concerts throughout the summer. The Grant Park Symphony plays in the Pritzker Pavilion in Millenium Park. They sell tickets, but the lawn is free.
